This cyber-network theater was designed by JRS as a highly interactive, real-time training environment for Northrop Grumman’s customers. With seating for over 200 guests and multiple conference areas, our solutions included advanced acoustical, lighting, and large screen viewing systems.
Our concept to transform Hofstra’s fitness center focused on visual impact. The 2-level SportspleX would serve as a canvas incorporating school colors with dramatic lighting effects. Inside, merchandising and dining areas, multiple equipment zones, yoga and exercise rooms and a roof top terrace are “wow factor” features of this proposed facility.
Central to the transformation of a shell-only building into high-tech office and operations space was our dual-use concept for a full service, 125-seat corporate cafeteria. Acoustically designed and equipped with state-of-the-art audiovisual capabilities, the dining facility doubles as a theater for meetings and events.
Challenged by multiple levels, the space needed to be reconfigured to increase its flexibility. The design concept included leveling the floor to maximum the use of the space and adding perimeter columns for interest and for lighting. The latter was very critical in the design solution given the objective to offer a variety of colors to better accommodate specific event themes. The walls were papered and a glass mosaic tile feature was added on the columns and soffit.
The doctors turned to JRS to design an environment in which to provide cutting-edge neurology care. The Physical Therapy department, a key area for this practice, was planned for individual sessions and is fully equipped with bikes, treadmills, parallel bars, weights, steps and finger ladder.
Energy is the theme for our design of NFB’s corporate fitness facility. Entering through a metallic door, employees follow a life-size digital mural of runners to the central equipment room. Industrial lighting and laminates of royal blue and canary yellow keep the energy flowing.
For the headquarters café, our approach was to relax and engage employees with a dining area overlooking an exotic, plant filled rock garden. Colors from nature inform interior treatments and materials, while a warm glow emanates from the translucent basket-weave ceiling.
A new workplace design strategy was developed with the client which involved transitioning from traditional work spaces to one with bench seating and a variety of collaborative and community spaces as well as quiet rooms. New furniture standards were identified with the project reducing square footage per person from 140 to 115. The conference center can accommodate a variety of training needs both from a size and furniture perspective.
