RVCC’s new Student Center project creates a new interactive space for the students to gather and socialize. Our concept created outdoor gathering spaces linking the building to the scenic surroundings. The open floor plan allows for flexibility and student interaction. Glass was used to maximize daylight and take advantage of the panoramic views while the strategic use of color through accent walls, floating panels and furniture, defines spaces and excites the eye. The exterior cladding of brick and concrete was both an economical solution and a way to relate back to the existing fabric of the campus. The three-level Center was proposed for LEED Silver certification.
